DUI Maiming 

What is DUI Maiming?

DUI Maiming is a separate charge from normal a DUI, and it applies to a situation when someone is driving while intoxicated and causes an accident involving injuries. Va. § 18.2-51.4. Unlike a DUI charge, DUI Maiming is a felony offense.

Penalties for DUI Maiming

Since it is a class 6 felony, DUI Maiming is punishable by one to five years in prison and up to $2500 in fines. Additionally, there is a mandatory license suspension and required completion of an alcohol/substance abuse program. If a restricted license is granted, an ignition interlock is required to be installed.
